Overview
Corboy & Demetrio is a leader in the burgeoning practice area of rideshare litigation. We are currently involved in nearly 20 lawsuits filed against Uber and Lyft on behalf of injured victims or the families of victims killed by rideshare drivers. In addition, we represent families of Uber and Lyft drivers who were injured or killed by their passengers.
Corboy & Demetrio has developed a national reputation in rideshare litigation representing victims and their families. We currently represent plaintiffs in two much-publicized cases. In Colorado, Corboy & Demetrio has been retained by the family of Uber passenger Hyun Kim, who was wrongfully killed on June 1, 2018, by Uber driver Michael Hancock. In another case, Corboy & Demetrio represents the family of Uber driver Grant T. Nelson, of Wilmette, who was murdered by 16-year-old Eliza Wasni, a Taft High School student he had just picked up at a Wal-Mart in Skokie, IL. Read our news release.
Corboy & Demetrio also represents two motorists whose vehicle was struck by a Lyft driver who crossed the center line and struck the victims’ vehicle head on. The Lyft driver tested positive for drugs. Read our news release.
In addition, we represent a bicyclist who suffered injuries after he was struck by the door of a passenger exiting an Uber vehicle as well as a pedestrian who suffered injuries when an Uber vehicle struck him as he crossed a Chicago street.
Recent Successes
- Confidential settlement from a rideshare company on behalf of an intoxicated female passenger after a ride share driver engaged in sexual relations with her.
- Confidential settlement from a rideshare company on behalf of a male passenger who was the victim of an attempted sexual assault by the ride share driver.
- Confidential settlement from a rideshare company on behalf of a bicyclist who suffered the amputation of his index finger after he was “doored” by a ride share passenger.
