Profile

Collin J. Gill, a trial lawyer with experience in wrongful conviction, police misconduct, and malicious prosecution litigation, joined Corboy & Demetrio as an Associate Attorney in 2024. Collin worked for Corboy & Demetrio as a Law Clerk while attending Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Before joining Corboy & Demetrio, Collin served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Hon. Thomas M. Cushing, Cook County Circuit Court.  He assisted judges with all aspects of case management, including drafting orders and opinions, conducting legal research, and performing case analyses.

Immediately after graduating from Loyola, Collin worked as an Associate Attorney at a Chicago law firm that was focused on federal civil rights litigation.  Collin gained experience in all aspects of that litigation practice.

In law school, Collin earned a spot on the Dean’s List and was a recipient of the Thomas More Scholarship from 2019 to 2022. He also received other awards, including the Leadership, Service, and Public Interest Award and the CALI Award in Conflict of Laws, a recognition given by faculty to the highest performing student in a course. He served as a guardian ad litem as part of Loyola’s Community Law Center Clinic. In addition, Collin served as an Associate Editor of the Loyola University Chicago International Law Review from 2020-2021.

As a Law Clerk at Corboy & Demetrio, Collin worked on a variety of cases in state and federal court.  He assisted attorneys in drafting motions, complaints, and briefs and worked closely with attorneys on cases being tried in front of juries, including a wrongful death case stemming from a car accident which resulted in a multi-million-dollar verdict.

Collin received his Bachelor of Science in economics, cum laude, from Creighton University College of Business in 2018 and his Master of Finance from Creighton University College of Business in 2019.

He is a member of the State Bar of Illinois and the United States District Court in the Northern District of Illinois.

Outside of court, Collin is involved in community and volunteer work. Since 2022, he’s served as a Tutor in Lawyers Lend-A-Hand to Youth tutoring program, devoting one night a week for the duration of a school year. Collin has also volunteered with Asociación Proyecto Emanuel, which supports indigenous and non-indigenous groups in the Chirripó district of Costa Rica. In 2019 and 2020, he served as an Intake Volunteer for Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, an organization that provides pro bono civil legal aid in Chicago.
