Over $10 Million Jury Verdict for Victim of Medical Malpractice
Corboy & Demetrio attorneys obtained a jury verdict of $10,056,500 for a 28-year-old young man who was rendered a quadriplegic due to medical malpractice. The plaintiff was admitted unconscious to Lutheran General Hospital with multiple trauma injuries after being thrown 30 to 50 feet from a vehicle in a rollover accident. An emergency splenectomy was performed. Although x-rays and a CT scans of his cervical spine revealed unstable fractures of his spine, the plaintiff had full use of all extremities and no spinal cord damage had occurred. Two days after the accident, the soft collar was removed from the plaintiff’s neck, he was transferred to a new bed and rolled from side to side on the bed and his upper body was raised when the head of the bed was raised. By noon of that day, he had become a quadriplegic.
