$6.8 Million for Worker in Highway Construction Project
One of the last cases brought under the now-repealed Structural Work Act settled before the start of jury selection. Thomas A. Demetrio negotiated a settlement of nearly $6.8 million for Catherine Graves of Hobart, Indiana, who suffered facial fractures while working on the Algonquin Road highway improvement project. Ms. Graves was injured when a 1,000 pound piece of sheet metal, being lifted by a crane, fell and struck a 4 x 4 piece of lumber she was holding, striking her in the face.
