$16.6 Million Global Settlement in Lincoln Park Porch Collapse Lawsuit
A global settlement of $16.6 million has been obtained for the victims of the Lincoln Park porch collapse. Corboy & Demetrio partner Francis Patrick Murphy represented 14 of the victims or victim’s family - the largest number of victims represented by one law firm.
On the evening of July 29, 2003, approximately 75 young people were attending a party at 713 West Wrightwood Avenue in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. As many of the guests were standing on the third floor exterior wooden porch, the porch collapsed onto the second floor porch and then onto the ground level. As a result, 13 people died and 29 were injured.
The defendants, Philip Pappas, Restoration Specialists, LLC, and L.G. Properties, settled for the full amount of the available insurance.
