Corboy & Demetrio Obtains $5.1 Million Settlement in Megabus Crash

Corboy & Demetrio settled a case today for $5.1 million on behalf of the family of a 64-year-old man who was struck and killed by a Megabus in 2010 just blocks from the scene of yesterday’s fatal pedestrian crash involving a Megabus and a 76-year-old Chicago woman.
On Feb. 23, 2010, the 64 year old was walking west on Adams Street and crossing Des Plaines Street in the crosswalk when a left turning Megabus operated by Shervyle Pruitt struck him and dragged him 30 feet before stopping. He died soon thereafter at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
The decedent is survived by his wife, two adult sons, and several grandchildren. He was preparing to retire from his career as Vice President of Superior Graphite in Chicago and had intended to join his wife and children in Houston in nine months.
