Corboy & Demetrio Files Lawsuit against Megabus in Downstate IL Crash
Corboy & Demetrio filed a lawsuit today against Megabus USA on behalf of a passenger in the downstate Illinois crash that injured 47 people and killed a University of Missouri student on Aug. 2.
The 20 year old suffered a concussion and injuries to his neck, back and wrist. Whitaker is studying mechanical engineering at the University of Missouri. The lawsuit, filed against Megabus and driver Preston Taylor, alleges negligence in the crash that involved a tire blowing and the bus crashing into a pillar along I-55 near Litchfield, Illinois.
This is the third lawsuit filed against Megabus handled by Corboy & Demetrio, which includes one that settled recently for $5.1 million for the victim’s family.
The lawsuit comes just one week after Corboy & Demetrio filed a lawsuit against Megabus USA on behalf of the family of a 76-year-old Chicago woman who was struck and killed by a Megabus on in the city’s West Loop days earlier.
That lawsuit was filed just two days after Corboy & Demetrio obtained a $5.1 million settlement against Megabus on behalf of the family of another pedestrian who was killed by a Megabus vehicle in 2010 that was just a few blocks from where the Chicago woman was killed.
