Thomas Demetrio and Philip Corboy, Jr. selected to 2023 Crain’s Notable Litigators and Trial Attorneys
Corboy & Demetrio Attorneys Thomas A. Demetrio and Philip Corboy, Jr. were selected to Crain's Chicago Business’ 2023 Notable Litigators and Trial Attorneys. According to Crain’s, the honorees have fought “headline-making courtroom battles” and epitomize “all that the Latin phrase pro bono, `for the public good,’ represents.”
“It’s a true honor to be selected with partners of some of the largest and most reputable law firms in the country,” Thomas Demetrio said.
In Thomas’ profile, Crain’s notes that he obtained a $42.4 million jury verdict against Advocate Condell Medical Center in August in the wrongful death of a patient. The profile also includes that Thomas founded the Chicago Bar Association’s Lawyers Lend-A-Hand to Youth program and that in one of his pro bono cases, he won custody for a pregnant Navy veteran who’d been rendered a quadriplegic and was facing a custody battle with the baby’s father who had filed for sole custody on the grounds that she could not be a fit mother.
In Philip’s profile, also published in this week’s Crain’s Chicago Business, the magazine notes that he’s amassed more than 70 verdicts and settlements of $1 million or more in his career and that he’s managing the firm’s high-profile litigation stemming from the Astroworld music festival tragedy. In addition, the profile includes that Philip is suing Tesla on behalf of the parents of an 18-year-old passenger who burned to death in a crash.
Crain’s also notes that Philip currently serves on the Board of Directors of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Foundation and that he’s a Past President of the Board of the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago (now called Legal Aid Chicago).
