Record-Setting Jury Verdict of Over $16 Million for Brain Damaged Baby

A young woman, who had a medical condition that placed her at high risk of a uterine rupture, was admitted to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village complaining of abdominal pain. She was scheduled for a Cesarean section two days later. Early that morning, her uterus ruptured and an emergency section was performed. Following her birth, the baby required incubation and suffered seizures. She has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy and walks with canes and wears braces on her legs. The jury returned a record-setting verdict of $16,599,350.
