Michelle Kohut Elected to Board of Directors of Heartland International Health Center
Michelle M. Kohut's recent election to the Board of Directors of the Heartland International Health Center (HIHC), where she will serve a three-year term, was featured in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.
HIHC is dedicated to improving the health of persons living in the Uptown, Edgewater, Rogers Park and Albany Park communities of Chicago. Its five Health Centers provide affordable, quality, multilingual, and culturally competent health services designed to prevent illness and promote physical, mental and social well-being. HIHC serves more than 10,000 people a year and over 60% of its clients do not have health insurance and over 45% live at or below the federal poverty level.
Michelle M. Kohut joined Corboy & Demetrio in 2004 and practices in all areas of personal injury law, including cases arising from automobile collisions, construction negligence, premises liability and product liability.
She is very active in local and national bar associations, including the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, where she serves on the Board of Directors and is Chair of the Political Action Committee. She is also on the Board of Directors for Women Everywhere, a community service project which seeks to open doors to women and children in need and to expose high school girls to challenging careers in the legal profession.
In 2007, Ms. Kohut was named one of "40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch" by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company and was designated an Illinois Super Lawyer, "Rising Star," in 2008.
A graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Michelle was a Judicial Law Clerk to William D. Maddux, Presiding Judge of the Law Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, prior to joining Corboy & Demetrio.
