Corboy & Demetrio lawyer Michelle M. Kohut was installed as First Vice-President of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois on June 7, 2012 at WBAI’s 98th Annual Installation dinner in Chicago.
“I am honored to be installed as the First Vice President of one of the oldest women’s bar organizations in the country,” Michelle Kohut said
Kohut, who has been named an “Illinois Super Lawyer, Rising Star,” for the last five years, will serve one year in the position of Vice President, then will become the President of WBAI in 2013.
Kohut was sworn in at the dinner, which is one of the largest annual celebrations within the Chicago legal community.
The oath of office for the incoming President was administered by Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne M. Burke, and Cook County Circuit Court Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans swore in the Officers and Directors of the WBAI. Retired Colonel Jill Morgenthaler, who served as Governor Quinn’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Public Safety and Homeland Security Advisor, was keynote speaker.
Kohut, a Chicago personal injury lawyer at Corboy & Demetrio since 2004, was named one of “40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch” by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company in 2007. She has tried many personal injury cases to verdict and has obtained numerous multi-million dollar settlements. She is a 2002 graduate of Loyola University School of Law in Chicago.
