Michelle Kohut, Corboy & Demetrio Trial Lawyer, Elected Treasurer of Women’s Bar Association of Illinois
Michelle M. Kohut, a personal injury lawyer at the Chicago law firm of Corboy & Demetrio, was recently elected Treasurer of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI) where she will serve a one-year term.

The WBAI’s mission is to ensure the success of women attorneys through business and professional development and to advocate for women’s interests. Located in downtown Chicago and founded in 1914, WBAI offers networking events, substantive law committees, and a judicial candidate evaluation program.
Michelle joined Corboy & Demetrio in 2004 and practices in all areas of personal injury law, including cases arising from automobile collisions, construction negligence, premises liability and product liability.
Professional Affiliations and Community Involvement
She is very active in local and national bar associations and in addition to serving as Treasurer of the WBAI, is Chair of Wilpower, a political action committee. Michelle is also Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for Women Everywhere, a volunteer collective in the Chicagoland area aimed at soliciting and coordinating volunteer activities on behalf of women and children in need, and a Board member of the Heartland International Healthcare Center which is dedicated to providing affordable healthcare services to residents in five Chicago neighborhoods.
Honors and Awards
In 2007, she was named one of “40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch” by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company and was designated an Illinois Super Lawyer, “Rising Star,” in 2008 and 2009.
A graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Michelle was a Judicial Law Clerk to William D. Maddux, Presiding Judge of the Law Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, prior to joining Corboy & Demetrio.
