$5.75 Million for Family of Woman Killed in Car Crash Caused by Reckless Deputy

Francis Patrick Murphy, a partner at Corboy & Demetrio, negotiated a settlement of $5.75 million for the surviving family in the death of a 41 year-old wife and mother of four caused by a Cook County Sheriff’s deputy. The woman was killed when the deputy drove in excess of 70 mph and through a red light, broadsiding her car. Although the deputy claimed to be responding as back up to a domestic disturbance, official records secured by Murphy proved the call was only for an unwanted suspect, which is a low priority call.
