$5.25 Million Settlement in Medical Malpractice Case

Obtained a settlement of $5.25 million in a medical malpractice case against Provena Hospital in Elgin, where the plaintiff, 53-year-old Jesse Vargas, underwent a lumbar puncture while he was on aspirin and Lovenox.  Mr. Vargas told a nurse he had severe weakness in his right leg and showed signs of urinary retention.   Mr. Vargas developed a spinal hematoma and is a quadriplegic as a result.  Case settled on Sept. 15, 2014.
