Memorial Highway Dedicated to IL State Trooper Killed on I-294
The portion of Interstate 294 in Northbrook, IL, where Illinois State Trooper Christopher Lambert was fatally struck while helping others on Jan. 12, 2019, was named in his honor nearly 11 months after his death.

Trooper Lambert’s family, friends, and fellow police officers gathered to dedicate the portion of I-294 where he was killed. The Trooper Christopher Lambert Memorial Highway is located between mile markers 49.25 and 50 on Interstate 294 north of Willow Road.
The dedication was widely covered by Chicago media.
The driver of the vehicle who struck Trooper Lambert, Scott A. Larsen, 61, was charged with reckless homicide of a police officer. The class 2 felony is aggravated under "Scott's Law" to carry a possible sentence of up to 14 years.
According to Illinois State Police, On January 12, 2019, at approximately 4:43 p.m., Trooper Christopher Lambert was on the scene of a three-vehicle traffic crash in the left lane on I-294 near Willow Road. While handling the crash, another vehicle failed to stop and struck Trooper Lambert while he was outside of his patrol car. Trooper Lambert tragically lost his life at Glenbrook Hospital as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.
The resolution to dedicate the portion of the highway on I-294 was sponsored by State Senator Julie A. Morrison, State Senator Rachel Crowe, and State Representative Bob Morgan. The dedication ceremony took place at the Rosemont Theater in Rosemont, Illinois.
