National Law Journal Names Corboy & Demetrio to 2015 Elite Trial Lawyers for Medical Malpractice
Corboy & Demetrio proudly announces it was selected to 2015 Elite Trial Lawyers by the National Law Journal, as one of only four plaintiff’s firms in the entire country chosen Finalist in the area of medical malpractice. The firm was recognized at an awards dinner at the Plaza Hotel in New York City on Dec. 8, 2015.
Among the cases Corboy & Demetrio was recognized for:
· A $14 million settlement on behalf of the guardian and mother of an eight-year-old girl who was improperly intubated as a 7-week-old baby after going to the hospital for bronchitis. She suffered brain damage and cerebral palsy as a result.
· A $4.25 million verdict in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in a Federal Tort Claims Act case involving the death of a 46-year-old woman who underwent a biopsy procedure for cervical cancer at a veteran’s hospital in Chicago and died several days later. At trial, Corboy & Demetrio proved that the procedure was botched by the surgeon who removed an excessively large portion of the woman’s cervix.
· A $5.25 million settlement against an Illinois hospital where a 53-year-old man underwent a lumbar puncture while he was on aspirin and Lovenox. He developed a spinal hematoma and is a quadriplegic as a result.
