Sterigenics
Corboy & Demetrio currently represents numerous Illinois residents who either lived near or worked near Sterigenics and who developed cancer.
Our firm filed its first lawsuit against Sterigenics on Aug. 19, 2019, on behalf of a resident who died after exposure to Sterigenics’ toxic emission of ethylene oxide. Thirty-one other lawsuits were filed in conjunction with Corboy & Demetrio’s in Cook County Circuit Court. Read the full complaint.
Sterigenics uses ethylene oxide, a known carcinogen, to sterilize medical instruments and had been releasing this harmful gas in a geographic area that is densely populated with residences and schools until Feb. 15, 2019 when the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency issued a Seal Order, sealing all storage containers of ethylene oxide at Sterigenics’ Willowbrook facility, effectively shutting down the facility by preventing it from using ethylene oxide. Read the Seal Order.
