Railroads Getting More Time for Positive Train Control an Outrage

In 2005, a METRA train derailed in Chicago, costing two young women their lives and causing catastrophic injuries to others.  At the time, Corboy & Demetrio advocated for Positive Train Control on all passenger trains as an appropriate redundancy measure to prevent derailments.

10 years later...and the industry still hasn't put passenger safety first!  Now, President Obama has given them a pass for three more years?  Outrageous.  How many more lives need to be lost or irreparably altered for this necessary safety measure to be mandatory?  Read the full New York Times story about how the safety technology has been around since 1981!
